Gary Dourdan was arrested in Palm Springs for an alleged possession of ‘a virtual pharmacy’s worth’ of prescription medication and a number of illegal drugs.

Dourdan, 41, was asleep inside his vehicle which was parked on the wrong side of the road and with the interior light on.

The arresting officer described the actor as ‘disoriented’ and appeared to be under the influence of a banned substance and alcohol.

A 73-year-old has been arrested in Vienna, Austria after his daughter, Elisabeth F., told police that her father kept her locked in a cellar room, repeatedly raped her, and fathered her children.

Elisabeth told police her father started abusing her when she was 11. Her father kept her locked in a cellar room since August 28, 1984. In the next 24 years, she was continually abused and gave birth to 7 of her father’s children, though one died.

Police have assured Elisabeth that her remaining 3 girls and 3 boys, ranging in age between 5 and 20, will be taken care of. The father has not confessed, but DNA tests will determine his paternity of Elisabeth’s children.

CNN anchor Richard Quest has been arrested at 3:40 Friday morning in Central Park, NYC. He was initially arrested for being in the park past its 1am curfew, but police then found a plastic bag containing a controlled substance.

Quest, who is well-known on CNN International, is to attend six months of counseling. If he agrees to the counseling, the case would be dismissed. Quest has his own feature programme on CNN International, as well as being a major business reporter.

Sri Lanka: 83-year-old Thantriye Emis Singho has been released after being held in remand for 55 years. Singho was arrested in 1953 for carrying a sword. He was referred to Angoda mental hospital by the courts and had been held there ever since.

The hospital moved him to the cured persons unit shortly after arrival but the authorities took no further action so he remained remanded there until he was discovered by a lawyer and a social worker conducting research.

The lawyer, Ireshika Gunawardena, applied to the courts for his release. Gampaha additional Magistrate H. M. Anurakumara Herath ordered his immediate release. Singho still has living relatives in his home village.

Man Released Having Been Arrested and Held Without Charge for 55 Years

Police officers from seven different departments were needed to break up a street brawl in which an estimated 40 to 50 people fought in the streets of NYACK, New York for over an hour.

The fight, believed to be gang related left numerous participants needing medical attention as one man was stabbed and another severely beaten with a claw hammer.

Five people were arrested on charges which include disorderly conduct, trespassing, menacing and possession of marijuana.

Police From 7 Departments Needed To Stop Street Fight

Police have arrested a Japanese man who ran a suicide website on the Internet for killing a woman who paid him to do it. She contacted him through the website, and paid him $1,700 (U.S) to kill her. She was given sleeping pills and suffocated.

Her body was found April 16 in a city south of Tokyo. Police found a suicide note, but her car keys and cell phone came up missing. The man, Kanuzari Saito, has been charged with violating narcotic and psychotropic drug control laws.

Saito was arrested in July for selling sleeping pills to 10 people through his website. One has died and police are investigating. Japan has the highest suicide rate in the industrialized world, topping over 30,000 in 2006. Read more »

Internet Suicide Site Owner Arrested For Murder

India: A 19-year-old teacher in West Delhi has been charged with assaulting the modesty of a woman with intent to outrage her modesty after she took punishment for not doing homework to an extreme in her kindergarten classroom.

The teacher made the 6-year-old student strip, tied her hands, and forced stand on a desk while directing her classmates to chant “shame, shame” and clap. Police say the teacher had completed 12th class but had no formal teaching qualifications.

“She had once been slapped so hard that she returned home with marks on her cheeks. We didn’t take any action and instead blamed her for not doing her homework, but what happened this time around is totally unacceptable,” said the child’s brother. Read more »
