Former F1 champion Michael Schumacher has finished fourth in his debut on the competetive motorbike racing circuit. Schumacher clocked the second-fastest lap in the race, and had qualified third.

Schumacher said: “At the start I was a bit too careful, I didn’t begin well and I was well behind. Then I found my way and started overtaking and it was great.” He added that motorbiles were “just a hobby” and he wasn’t out for a second career.

Becky Schouvillier was woken by smoke detectors in her double wide mobile home in Pasco last week. The detectors were hard wired into the power supply, but didn’t have a battery as a back up.

“If we had lost power before they went off, we would have not heard them or not woke up,” Said Mrs Schouvillier. Fortunately all 4 members of the family and their two dogs made it out.

72 divers clad in their wetsuits and scuba gear broke the world record for the most people ironing under water. Each diver was required to carry an ironing board, a piece of clothing to iron and of course the iron.

Officially the record was broken for the number of people but not without some difficulty because the ironing boards floated somewhat. Staying under water was a challenge in itself as divers struggled to stay under.

The local police officer on the shore made sure that all divers were under at the same time. The charity event raised funds for Project AWARE a non-profit underwater conservation organisation.

Denmark: The Topless Front, a group campaigning for bare chested men and women to be treated equally, has won a major victory with the Copenhagen Culture and Leisure Committee voting to allow women to swim and walk around topless at swimming pools.

The victory is a result of a year of campaigning. The group drew inspiration from similar protests in Sweden. (SN reported) One Swedish protest leader wants breasts desexualised to the point women can “pull off [their] shirts at football matches.”

“I cannot understand what some people find so offensive about women’s breasts. This decision is important in order to stop the idea that women’s bodies are only sex objects,” said Frank Hedegaard from the Socialist People’s Party.

On Thursday AMD revealed that it will ship the first triple-core processors to make it to the market. In addition to the triple-core processors, AMD also updated the quad-core Phenom lineup, which totals seven different Phenom processors.

The goal of the new triple-core lineup is to create a market for consumers that are not yet ready for quad-core. The VP of Advanced Marketing at AMD stated, “When you’ve maxed out your two cores…[this is an] extra core to do background tasks.

The AMD Phenom X3 models are the 8400 at 2.1GHz, and the 8600 at 2.3GHz. A 30% increase in performance is expected when the chip is paired with the AMD 780 series chipset. HP is already implementing the Phenom X3 and X4 in business PCs.
